This season's color palette emphasizes
self-expression, individuality and the need to
re-energize as well as the need for balance. The
color direction for spring builds upon these
compelling needs with a palette that mixes dynamic
brights in the form of electric colors and neon, in
addition to soft spring like refreshing colors with
simplistic neutrals to create a harmonious balance.
This allows for unique combinations that offer
versatility and practicality but at the same time,
demands attention, and earn an appreciative glance.
The black and white trend is a staple for all
seasons, even spring. These two colors are classic
and when paired together can really bring a certain
refined elegance. Even though “spring color”
typically makes you think of the pastel like colors
that represent Easter, designers made a strong
emphasis on the black and white stripes and checker
board patterns. This trend is a staple because it is
appropriate all year round and can easily work at
the office while at the same time transitioning into
sleek attire for date night.
Prints & Patterns
are everywhere! Colorful, big and bold, floral,
circles, zig-zags you name it and you will see it
this spring! Fierce prints with dominant colors and
even mixed with accents of leather and lace.
FLORAL—While this trend is nothing new, it’s
here for another season. Floral can be feminine,
flirty and dainty if paired with soft colors. It can
also be edgy if paired with leather. Don’t be afraid
of the sometimes busy patterns either. STRIPES-
are a must have this season if the digital prints
and floral are to in your face, strips are modern,
cool, and assertive.
This spring you will have no problems finding
something a little sexy to dress up in. This trend
is daring you to show some skin with midriff baring
separates, cutouts that exposed patches of skin at
the chest, waist, as well as up to there thigh high
splits. It's clear that the Peek-a-boo trend is not
for the fashionably shy.
Warm weather Leather
Leather was a trend and success for fall 2012, and
designers aren't willing to leave the leather
fashion behind, and leather is appearing again for
couldn’t be more excited that our cold-weather slick
and sleek fabric favorite is sticking around. The
fabric is cut into feminine shapes and dyed in
electric and soft colors. It's such a great
transitional piece, and if you're going to make the
investment, you're going to want to use it all year
long. To pull off the luxurious fabric in warm
weather, opt for lightweight, feminine pieces.
Ruffles, has gone from girly to glam for spring
2013, and are a favorite of designers for spring.
You will find on tops, sleeves, skirts, and dresses.
Although ruffles can certainly be a pretty detail,
these stiff, austere waves are more modern than the
floppier furls of past seasons.
This season, ruffles will be seen more over-sized
making this feminine detail feel new again.
Sleek and tailored
Nothing against dresses but when a gown appears too
formal and a cocktail dress a bit too frivolous,
there's something so elegant and sensual about a
woman in men's evening wear, black-tie styling will
suit the occasion. With jackets ranging from cropped
to hourglass to sleeveless, as well as tailored suit
shots. There’s a tuxedo-inspired style that will fit
Don’t forget about SHOES
A big change comes in the style of heel, or lack of
heel (The heeless wedge), being seen in shoe trends
for the season. Flats, flatforms and kitten heels
are really popular and you can find them in your
favorite color or pattern. These comfortable shoes
can be worn to work or for a night out. Other shoes
this season will feature a block or chunky heel.
This type of heel is also a little more comfortable
and easier to walk in. Other big trends in shoes
include bold colors, designs, metallic styles, clear
accents, and cap toe styles. Also be on the lookout
for strappy styles for spring which were featured in
various spring 2013 runways.
